A large yard is located underneath the mountains at the rear of our layout. It is named Bakersfield.

Checking a train at Bakersfield Yard.

Our scantily clad lady is parked around behind the enginehouse at Taylor Yard, out of sight of the general public.

Electrical panels under the layout below the cabs.

View from TV monitor 1. Engineers use this closed circuit television to view their trains when they are out of sight under the layout at Bakersfield.

Bull session in the clubroom.

In the elevated cabs. The dispatcher in the foreground, 5 engineers beyond.

Can you guess what is wrong with this picture? I swear it is unretouched!

Here is the answer to the picture above. Tom is supported on temporary scaffolding to work on otherwise inaccessible trackage. Note how busy his assistants are.

Milt in the cabs views the layout.

Bakersfield Yard is lit by fluorescents and has a large double control panel.

Larry at our workbench. It is in its own room. The tracks on the shelf connect to the layout at Bakersfield and are named San Francisco.

Larry demonstrates the one-handed climb up into the cabs. The railing is off a genuine F-7.

TV monitor 2. This ceiling-mounted television camera shows the far end of the layout, which is out of sight to the engineers in the cabs.

Monthly business meeting.

Tim in the cab is phoning Chris at Taylor Yard.

Kerry at the workbench. Kerry is club president for 2003, so definitely rates a picture here. In real life, Kerry is a television producer.

This overall view of the layout was taken from temporary scaffolding above Taylor Yard. This view is otherwise impossible.

Train in Bakersfield, under the rear of the layout.

The narrow gauge line runs across the rear of the layout on the wall behind Bakersfield. This closeup view is what clubmembers at Bakersfield see.

Showtime. We always have a slide show after our monthly business meeting the first Monday of each month. This is in our club's meeting room.

Man in the mountain! We have concealed access hatches all around the layout for emergency use.

Overall view of the cabs.

The Mojave Yard panel. There are two "power packs" flanking a "model board" with power switches and turnout switches. Nifty polished aluminum, huh?

A somber moment. We hold a private "last run" for the family of a dear departed member, Bill Hoadley.
