Membership in the Glendale Model Railroad Club is always open!
We always welcome new members with any level of experience, all that is required is an interest in Model Railroading.
Why join
- The Glendale Model Railroad Club enjoys an excellent reputation among the model railroad community in the Los Angeles area.
- We have a mature, well developed layout, that runs well. Having said that, we are constantly striving to improve scenery, modeling skills, and operations and we are also in the planing stages of a new, modern railroad.
- We have opportunities for both the beginner, who wants to improve his/her modeling skills, and the most advanced "contest quality" modelers. Many of our members have their own layouts, and a number are either planning or in the process of building.
- We hold clinics to help the beginners learn how to master the hobby, as well as organized visits to run on other model railroads in the Southern California area.
And last, but certainly not least, we enjoy a wonderful fellowship that revolves around model railroading.
- When a person decides that they would like to join the club, they fill out an application, and turn it in along with a $85 application fee.
- During the next three months the applicant must attend at least eight Monday night meetings.
- Approximately three months after the application is turned in, a vote is taken by the members.
- If the membership votes in favor of the applicant, he/she them becomes an associate member. An additional $85 is collected. The associate member then starts paying dues and capital assessment fees, totaling $20.00 a month.
- Approximately six months later, another vote is taken. If the associate member is voted in, they become a full member, are given a key to the building, and instructions on the security systems.
- If at any point in the application process, a prospective member is not voted membership, all monies are refunded.
One of the easiest ways to decide if you would like to join, is to visit us any Friday night from about 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We are almost always here. Just give us a call (818) 500-7229, ask for Ed Sikora and we will arrange a visit. Official meetings are held every Monday, except Christmas, from 7:30 to 10:00 pm.
